Hair curling-2 questions?
should i use a barrel to get small tight curls-kinds like corkscrew curls except a little looser.
if so..
what size barrel should i use
and...
how do u curl ur hair using a barrel without damaging ur hair or burning ur scalp. (i%26#039;ve never curled my hair before)

you won%26#039;t damage your hair ~ think 5 seconds while you pull the rod thorugh your chunks of hair to create the loose waves

And you might want to put some mousse in after you dry your hair and before you curl it.

okay i convinced my mom to let me dye my hair.

i bought a pair of wahl hair clippers..they were around $70...they have a lever on the side to adjust the blade height..i always drop the blade down as close as i can so it will give me the closest cut( bald)..but these even with the blade down dont cut as close as my old pair of clippers..the blade has two screws in it could i adjust the blade with the screws or should i take the clippers back and try to find another brand that will cut closer..my old brand was conair

Went from highlight blonde to dark brown...want to go back to blonde...What do I do?
My hair has been foiled for the past 20 years with highlights and lowlights. My natural color is dirty brownish-blonde. I decided to have my hair permanently colored back to the roots. The color is number 5 and 6 by TIGI. I hate it!!! I guess I have no choice but to go back to salon and have it foiled...what exactly is the process? Will the stylist just foil my hair and wait for it to lift? When I am outside, there are some glistening reddish-orange hair strands, my hair was very blonde prior and she said I might have to dye it a few times. Please help with advice!!

So its decision time Darker or Lighter......cuz with seeing reddish orange its showing you a hidden problem. Color can lighten and deposit at the 6 level but I would go ash to correct the color.......and scarry but green cancels red.
I would suggest conditioning and letting your hair rest. Then start putting in a few foilings towards summer.

If the box does not state which color the base is, then you should buy the color from a beauty supply store, instead of the supermarket. Regardless of what color you dye your hair, you will have to keep dyeing it repeatedly in order to maintain the color because now that you have bleached your hair, the cuticle is open and porous, and will therefore release the color as quickly as it absorbs it.

from what i understand this appears to be a dark blonde with a warmer base.....warmer meaning golden. this is what your hair needs to be able to go to a darker shade typically. if you were to put an ash base on your current haircolor your hair will turn green...gray... etc.........but you also have to consider the porosity of your hair. in your pic your hair looks overlightened which means your hair will be porous. it can grab off tones very easily meaning it turn out the wrong color....it could still turn greenish etc. but to answer your question you need a warm based color meaning it should have a golden tone maybe even a little red/orange to keep your hair from turning out a weird color. then again it is hard to give advice if i can%26#039;t see your hair .....meaning to feel the condition and porosity of it. i would highly recommend that you use a non ammonia color meaning deposit only color. it is much milder and will not damage the hair like a permanent color can. but for best results go see a reputable colorist......good luck

What would you recommend for naturally grown hair?
i started growing out my natural hair a little over a year ago. it grew out a lot, but after i got the last of my perm cut off, the hair on the back of my head has been breaking off a lot. it seems so uneven and so much shorter than the front. my mom put a texturizer in my hair to loosen it up so it wouldnt break off, but it%26#039;s still that way.
i use Cream of Nature shampoo and conditioner, is there any products specifically for natural hair that would make my hair grow out and not break off?

When growing your hair natural make sure not to shampoo it too often once a week is fine... use heavy conditioner in your hair Leave in creams are the best.. I personally use Hair Mayonaise. and make sure you keep your scalp oiled
I%26#039;m not sure of your hair length but putting twist in your hair (no extensions) or single braids is very beneficial because it will help strengthen your hair....brush it regularly to keep ends from getting tangled or knotty.
and to ensure faster growth make sure you get a regular trim monthly not alot just those ragedy ends ...
If you follow these steps i guarentee you will see great results....

Ok, about three weeks ago i tried to go light brown from boxed colors and it didnt go well. My friend who works in a salon did a natural dark blonde on my hair and it clearly didnt work but turned very brassy so that same night we got another box to bring it back dark. My hair is thick (especially at the bottom) and wavy.The problem is,I cannot straighten my hair.Sure,if I spend a half hour I can get it straight looking,but it only lasts for a half hour.I like the %26#039;scene%26#039; hairstyle with tons of layers and sidebangs,well I got layers but I haven%26#039;t cut them in forever since they do not straighten at all.I guess because my hair is so thick.I can spend a long time straightening my layers and then they get wavy at the ends right away again.It is just the layers I have problems with,because before I got them cut my hair was straight.
If I can%26#039;t find a solution to this,is getting it permanantly straightened in a salon (well,not forever but you know what I mean) more damaging then spending forever straightening it everyday?I might just do that instead.

Take a hairbrush you don%26#039;t care about and spray a little hairspray on it. Then run the brush over your hair for a couple strokes and repeat. Hope I helped.

Reply:Chemical straightening kills your hair. It is the same as perming. It changes the chemical bonds in your hair and locks them into a new position. This process effectively changes the protein and totally wrecks the hair.
You need a really good hair straightener for hair like yours like a GHD. It will work much better on your hair and wont damage it as much. Use a good post styling setting agent (ie a good, ultra strong hairspray) on it afterwards. I like fudge cement.

and also you can use a flat beer as setting lotion to hold the frizzes down spray on your hair before you blow dry and as it dries the smell of the beer will go away (you dont need a ton of it)
